    It is so difficult to get these fantasy patterns looking just right (stylistically). I think we can all see (if not explain) why the date 18 08 just looks wrong in style (the font looks too "modern" I think). The reverse looks pretty good though.

    A pretty impressive coin to me and a lot nicer than some that have gone before it - If I collected crowns I would be very tempted to buy this.
    Both obverse and reverse are very nice and I am sure the coin is even better in the hand

    I agree, not everything about it is 'authentic', but it is certainly attractive -for a change, if you think about the Maklouf abominations! As to being a valuable investment - what's to stop them striking more at a later date?
    The comment that they have been struck 'near The Soho mint' is a bit like setting up home under the flyover on Junction 5 of the M4 and giving your address as Windsor castle.
