I used to trade quite succesfully on ebay, minor rarities and good quality 19th/20th C coins. A quick look through the listings after a break of 2 or 3 years and the place is crammed with rubbish!
    Anyone else noticed this?

FleaBay's reputation = In the sewer!

PayPal's reputation = In the sewer!

    You'd be better off up on http://www.my-little-auctions.com , http://www.overstock.com ,or http://www.wensy.com .

    There are NO fees whatsoever!

The worst thing ebay did was too let people list for free
They just relist , relist , relist the same old rubbish time after time
Very depressing for genuine collectors to see ebay crammed with unsellable rubbish

Not sure what you mean by that but actually when a interesting good grade or rare coin turns up on fleabay , the interest seems to be better than ever .
I surpose the stars shine out amongst a pile of c***

i mean pennies going for above and beyond book prices, random bids on coins of no value whatsoever, stuff thats worth £1 (fair bun heads) going for £2-3 (thats excluding postage which ammounts to a good £4..)

I spotted this on eBay recently; 1746 farthing with V/U in GEORGIUS. Was advertised as a "standard" 1746. Got it for £55.00 and was quite pleased with that. Filled a long-standing gap in my collection!

Have a look at following fleebay link. Much to learn. Probably why you do not see quality stuff , as Pete stated "the place is crammed with rubbish!"

I too had an empty envelope turn up once a few years back but this one hadn't been tampered with.

FleeceBay deserves to be sued in every jurisdiction that they have a division in,then they should be forced into abandoning their predatory business practices.

The numismatic community has been held to ransom by FleeceBay for far too long.

As for PayPal,they should also be sued as well, but they can only be sued when the case is filed in a court in California.PayPal's tactics have shown that they have been operating outside the law, considering that they are a financial institution that needs to be subjected to the same regulations that the banks & credit unions have to comply with.

Ebay is a hit or miss affair and lately I would agree there is a ton (tonne) of junk being listed that even if it is in a slab it is usually over graded or has a problem.
