The James Workman Superior Collection of Pennies

This Superior collection of British bronze pennies started its formation in the year 2000. My father known to many of you as "Bernie" convinced me that collecting coins was a better idea than saving money in the bank. His ulterior motive was that I would not be able to spend it! I agreed that I would buy coins from my father at cost price, this sounded fine, but always kept me fairly broke! There was a constant flow of pennies of which amazed me, where were they coming from? Apparently from coin fairs, one or two a month, from dealers, from coin dealers worldwide, from other collectors and from EBay. It gave my father great pleasure in searching out these coins as he was finding it more and more difficult to find new variety or higher grade pennies for his own collection. Over the last five years the only coins that I required were becoming very expensive but this did not stop the flow of coins into my collection. Unbeknown to me, my father was selling me affordable pennies at original cost price from his own collection. In this last year, the supply of pennies declined, my father had no more to offer me at prices that I could afford. I have never got that attached to my collection, it is my father's obsession, not mine. I discussed selling my collection with my father to raise money for a deposit on a house. To my surprise he agreed ! "What a brilliant idea !"
