Silver Proof. BMC 855. Thin flan. (This is much rarer than the Thick flan proof). A few, minor surface marks, superb EF/GEF toned with considerable underlying mint brilliance.
This is a duplicate from this writer's spares, acquired 20th April 1974 from the Dr E. A. Johnstone collection, who had acquired it from Spink on 5th November 1952 for £3.50.
We have never listed any examples of BMC 855 in EF or better in all our printed 45 lists to date. We did list one in GVF but with defects in 1997. The only other recent examples we can trace are on a Seaby Bulletin in June 1983, GEF £850 and Spink Coin Auction in June 1987 EF brilliant which sold at £880. |
