As demand for farthings had dropped, production ceased in 1956; indeed, few 1956 farthings ever went into circulation. Legal and current tender status ended on Dec 31st 1960, providing the collector with 343 years of źds to collect since the Haringtons of James 1st in 1613.

Click here to view picture 1956 1956 Farthing on a Halfpenny sized flan. An interesting over sized uniface model of a 1956 1/4d, in bronze, obverse blank, reverse similar to the currency issue 1/4d but with a less delicate treatment of the Wren and lacking designer's initials, edge plain, 33mm, wt 21.65gms.

As struck and fields prooflike with a hint of lustre, excessively rare.

The only known example to us and is believed to be unique.
